Love planet audio. Best bang for your buck. Paired it to a SSL headunit and powering 4 HIFONICS speakers in my 1994 GMC C3500 crew cab. Puts out plenty of power and sound quality is great with no distortion.

I am somewhat disappointed in the sound quality. I selected this amp based on size, power and price. The step up bus voltage for transients can actually be heard in my system every time it activates.UPDATE: Dec 2018. Had enough of the background noise between songs. Replaced with Kenwood KAC-M3004. Much quieter noise floor and takes up LESS space to boot.

I’ve just received the product and consequently have yet to install. This PL1600.4 looks impressive and looking forward to following up with performance assessment. With all the previous reviews of folks having self-protect and overheating issues, I can’t help wonder if they are overtaxing the ohms or perhaps their charging system is inadequate for the draw they are imposing of ampres?Will share my results after a wisely executed and balanced install.

Amp is nice and compact, doesn’t run hot. Worked great for a week. Crisp, clear highs, great sound quality. After a week it started going to crap. Now anytime I turn the volume up to a slightly louder than low, it goes into protect mode. Everything is connected properly. For dependability, this amp sucks.

The quality is nice but you cant play your music for a long period of time. The amp will get hot, so I have to put a fan on it.

Sound is extremely nice. I doubt that it benches at 1600 watts though. More like 500 perhaps. But honestly, 500 watts of nice sound for this price is more than fair.

Amp didn’t work don’t waste your time or money. Paid 60 bucks for install and amp didn’t work then had to pay 25 bucks to ship it back what a total loss will never ever buy anything planet audio or from the wires zone

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  It over heats to fast. I don’t even have a huge woofer let alone the car speakers. I bought a capacitor to see that makes a difference. Update. Even with this capacitor it still shuts off. DO NOT BUY THIS. I CALLED THE AMAZON HELP LINE AND IT DOESN’T WORK. NOTHING WORKS.. update. I placed 120 mm computer case fans on the amp and until now it doesn’t over heat like it did before. Now the fans run at 1000 rpm about an inch off the amp. I live in a tropical are so I’ll be upgrading the fans to 2000 rpm soon.

I love this amp!!Lots of power for your doors!Word of caution on two things..One, MAKE SURE your speakers can handle them! Don’t use anything cheap..Two, tends to overheat on long play times.. but, that’s always an issue with A/B class amps.. to have crystal clear audio, it generates a lot of heat..I’m looking into fans to keep this powerhouse cool..I have been working on my system for about 3 weeks, what I was mainly looking for was crystal clear sound, with intense bass as well.. (already had the bass)I blew 2 sets of (name brand speakers) with this amp, trying to keep my cost down..I ended up getting a quality set of component speakers..When I got them installed, and hooked up to this amp, I have to admit, the clarity, feom this amp, with a quality set of component speakers, brought tears to my eyes..I was absolutely happy!!

I installed this amp running 2 10″ subs. After 10 seconds the protection mode light comes on and the amp shuts down. You then must turn the key off and on to restart amp. We have tried other amps from planet audio on past projects and had problems then too. I would stay away from anything PLANET AUDIO !!

It nice for the price. Its pushing 2 sundown 15 n my truck but sometimes it cuts out and I have to turn my truck off and then back on.

Very poor quality amp not even close to rated power, switch for hi/lo input doesnt work on lo level. This used to be a great brand, I have requested, to return amp several times, the message reads file a claim if no response ….. so I tap on file a claim and the page say sorry?

DOA, worked for 2 minutes and then was stuck in protest mode. sent back and got a refund. Go with Skar RP series amps

I was completely amazed by the sound this amp can dish out. I have not connected a car audio system in over 20yrs but once I purchased a used car with horrible radio and speakers I needed to upgrade. I was not looking to spend tons of money on this car. I turly did not expect to connect this amp with new speakers and have it sound crystal clear for 2 NYC blocks. Definitely a great purchase.

No issues with the amp and everything works fine. I believe most people have problems because they don’t wire the sub correctly to the amp itself and set power levels as they should be to prevent overheating issues. I live in AZ where it can reach temperatures up to 120 degrees so a word of advice is to always double and triple check your wiring.

Talk about body thumping beats! Definitely recommend this company I definitely recommend this company and their product. Shoot I even have to add more speakers to my set up because amplifier pushes so much power. Anyways hands down great amp for the money.

Bought it for my high/mid range. Runs 1 – 10″ sub + 4 – 6″ × 9″s + 3 – 1″ tweets superbly. Blew my amp pushing my 2 – 15″ Concept competition Subs and hooked this 2400 wt amp to them and it slammed! Great amp, great company. Everything in my ride is Planet audio except the subs. Down to the wiring! Great Amp!
