These grips do NOT fit a Taurus Model 44 as stated in the discription. The reason is that the location pin on the frame of the Taurus is half a inch closer to the backstrap than it is on a S&W. I gave one star because Houge knows it doesn’t fit unless you grind the pin off your frame and drill a new whole to install the weaker, smaller pin they include to locate it where S&W places it. They could have simply molded the grip to accommodate both pin locations rather than claim it fits without mentioning you have to make a permanent alteration to your gun. Furthermore, the grip isn’t any softer than the stock one.I have Pachmeyer grips on my other guns. I’ll do the same for this new .44 mag and for all the guns I purchase in the future. They are comfortable, attractive, and they fit what the manufacturer claims.

This is a nice grip. I was shooting a Ruger with it and wanted one for my el-cheapo Taurus .44. It fits well. You do have to remove the stock grip locator pin. Set the gun on a bench with a socket around the pin and tap it out. Took one hit with a plastic hammer and it was out. No biggie. The person who said you have to grind the pin off is not being truthful.First assembled it with a Hogue metal clip thingy in the old locator pin hole but it didn’t seem to work. Moved the clip up to the big hole in the handle and it mounted up fine.I am happy with how it fits. The stock grip wasn’t too terrible but this one has deeper finger grooves and just feels nicer. Anyone who’s having problems probably just put it on wrong.

Well I bought this grip for a Taurus medium frame square butt revolver that was made in the 70s and unfortunately it technically fit but it looked horrible. The frame of the gun extended 1/16 to 1/8 inch past the grip in the back which not only hurt your hand but looks completely ridiculous and another thing I did not like Taurus has their symbol on the side of the gun which not only did the grip not fit right but it covered up the symbol which made the gun look cheap. So this may fit on some models of medium frame square butt revolvers but it definitely does not fit on mine. Unfortunately I would not recommend because if you have a gun similar to mine you will not be happy with this grip

The grip is very nice and well made, but I was mislead and believed a post which it said it fit on a Judge Public Defender Poly. I own a 2.5″ Poly and I assure you this does not fit the gun. The metal handle under the grip on this gun is very short. Since the back of the grip is cut out and shows the back of the spine of the guns handle, there is a large open area that doesn’t get filled by the gun. A normal 3″ all metal Judge “might” work but the Poly does not fit with this grip. Don’t be mislead like I was. Other wise this grip is nice for any other gun that it does fit on. I give it 5 stars because there is nothing wrong with the grip, just my error in not doing more research before buying.

Got for old taurus 83 to replace those factory 2×4 grips. This was an improvement. Fit is acceptable but far from perfect. The most frustrating thing was installation. If you follow the directions it says to remove all pins for Taurus, in so doing implying(I say implying because this is the only mention of taurus even though the packaging has all the taurus models listed) you use the provided pin and spacer…after about of hour of trying different methods, boogering up my frame and my hand a bit I decided to reinstall the factory grip pin and put the stirup on it…went right on no problem…why hogue, why…give me nice directions or no instructions…don’t straight up give me wrong directions. Would probably be higher rated if not for that.

Fits my Taurus M44 (.44 Magnum) revolver perfectly, and gives me a much more positive, hand-fitting grasp than the original grips. I have this style of grip on several heavy-recoiling revolvers, and recommend them for anyone with larger hands.

I bought this hoping to improve on the skinny stock grips on my Taurus 66. The Hogue adds a little width, which is nice, but the finger grooves are somewhat tightly spaced, a bit too scaled down for anyone with above-average sized fingers. The open back design leaves the steel back strap of the gun against your palm, so you lose any shock absorption there. The fastening system is a bit odd but seems to hold securely. I would prefer that it installed like the stock grips. The design does not squeeze the grips against the side of the gun frame, due to the lack of a horizontal screw, and this leaves gaps along the back. This causes hollow creaky plastic noises when you grab or release the grip. The shape is nice and it does fit the gun pretty well, but it’s hard to call it an improvement over the well-designed stock grips.

For the negative folks: Please check out Hogue’s site to make sure you get the right one. Also, plenty of youtube videos with tricks on how to get these on.They fit TIGHT on purpose. Wouldn’t want a willy, loose .357 knocking into our foreheads, would we?? As with all things, there’s a trick to it but it’s not that hard…usually.Hoque customer service is great….the bubble package mine arrived in snaps in a few places around the edge but isn’t sealed air tight and at some point, either from factory or shipping or whatever, the installation screw went missing. I opened the package on the table, open the grip package, and no screw. Looked everywhere. Since the stirrup pin and spacer and other little bits were in there, I’m assuming it was a mishap when packaged. The phone number to Hogue gets you a HUMAN…quickly. AND THEY SPEAK ENGLISH!! Very helpful. I asked if I should take up the issue with them or Amazon and she simply said no worries, they’ll mail me one.Crap happens but the grip is fine and their customer service seems very nice.
